Sharon Markwardt  Color of the West: Original Art
New Works and Events

 Current Events:

I have been invited to the national show "Cowgirl Up!" at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum in Arizona, March 2012.  Look for more information in every issue of Southwest Art.  I was recently awarded signature status in Women Artists of the West.  A design firm known for promoting well-being recently selected three of my works to hang in the El Paso Children's Hospital.  The Texas Longhorn Breeders Association used one of my paintings for their 2012 calendar cover. I hope you got to see my solo show , "In Living Color" at Waxlander Gallery, Santa Fe.  It was exciting, fun, and successful, so my paintings will continue to hang prominently.  See my work in full pages of the October issues of Southwest Art and Western Art Collector, along with a write-up in the preview section.  Let me know if you would like a show postcard.  One of my longhorn paintings was chosen as the full page(pg 46) to start the Art section of the Santa Fean magazine for Oct/Nov.

The paintings below have all been done in the last few months.

"In Living Color" was my one-woman show at Waxlander Gallery & Sculpture Garden on Canyon Rd. in Santa Fe, NM  Oct 4-17.

Your Private Collection in Granbury , TX-- I was the featured artist for Gallery Night  on October 29.

Right now I am spending a lot of time in the studio painting for my shows.  I am having fun painting bison from photos I shot of a local herd owned by friends of friends, as well as horses, donkeys and longhorns.

Mid Cities Fine Artists honored me with a Best of Show award on my watercolor, "Tuff Enough" this summer.

I was fortunate to have three pieces accepted to the National show of Women Artists of the West, and won a Juror's Choice Award on "Sweet Thing".  "WAOWing the Lone Star State" was held at the Rockport Arts Center May 11-June 8.  WAOW is an elite national group of professional women artists.  I did a TV spot on the 11th, and a demo during the day on May 14.
"Dance of Thunder" won second place in the Trinity Arts Guild Open Juried Show 2011.

I will soon be sending some new work to Vertical Peaks Fine Art in Jackson Hole, WY, whom I am pleased to have represent me.
